In March 2015, the Australian Government Department of Defense announced the sale of the Bulimba Barracks. However, part of the site was retained to establish HMAS Moreton. Since then, the Brisbane City Council has actively engaged in community consultations and has made amendments to the City Plan to support upcoming initiatives related to green spaces along the river, housing development, and infrastructure enhancements. The Bulimba Barracks Master Plan was officially released in November 2015.
